What is Toastmasters?

Toastmasters International (TI) is an international public speaking movement that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of promoting communication and leadership skills.

On a club, division, district and international level, we empower individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.

Headquartered in Englewood, Colo., the organization's membership exceeds 358,000 in more than 16,800 clubs in 143 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders.

We aim for education

At Toastmasters, you learn at your own pace. With a flexible curriculum and senior mentors, Toastmasters International's education programme was built on four guiding principles that have been in place since the organization was founded in 1924:

  1. Experiential learning – By giving speeches and fulfilling leadership roles, you practice and improve.
  2. Peer feedback – Grow and improve through honest and supportive peer evaluation.
  3. Mentoring – Experienced mentors encourage, guide and support you in your goals and help you to achieve more than you thought possible.
  4. Self-paced program – Develop skills at your own pace and comfort level.

Toastmasters education is comprised of the traditional education program, the Pathways learning experience, the Youth Leadership Program, the Interpersonal Communication Program and the Speechcraft Program.

Not to mention, the organization holds annual contests in Table Topics, Evaluation, Humorous Speeches and the International Speech Contest for members to make their way up to the World Championships!
