Hirak Kumar Basak was born and raised in Fulia, a village located in Nadia, West Bengal. He completed his postgraduate studies in Chemistry (M.Sc) in 2021 at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Uttar Pradesh, India. In 2022, he joined the Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. Currently, he is pursuing his doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Biswarup Chakraborty. His research interests revolve around the development of earth-abundant and non-precious metal catalysts for electrochemical ammonia oxidation reactions and water-splitting, intending to contribute to a sustainable future.
Dr. Biswarup Chakraborty was born and brought up in Jara, a village in Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. He received his B.Sc. in Chemistry (2004-2007) from Ramakrishna Mission Residential College Narendrapur (University of Calcutta) and integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D. course (2007-2009) from the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS, Kolkata). After a five years of postdoctoral research at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, and the Technical University of Berlin, Germany, he joined as a faculty in the Department of Chemistry, IIT Delhi, in 2020. Dr. Biswarup Chakraborty is currently focusing on the designing of heterogeneous electrocatalysts for water splitting and CO2 reduction reactions.
