Principal Investigator (PI)
Dr. Haridas Kar joined the School of Chemical and Materials Science (Chemistry) at IIT Goa as an Assistant Professor in October 2025.
He received M.Sc. in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, India, in 2011. He carried out his doctoral research in supramolecular and polymer chemistry in the laboratory of Professor Suhrit Ghosh at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), India, and obtained his Ph.D. in 2017. He then moved to Madison and joined as a Research Associate in the group of Professor Padma Gopalan, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, where he studied self-assembly of amphiphilic cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) at the air/water interface and developed ultrathin films. After his first postdoc, he joined as a Marie Curie Seal of Excellence Fellow in the group of Professor Leonard Jan Prins, University of Padua, Italy. He studied dissipative self-assembly in the space-time domain and developed responsive systems.
His research work is highly interdisciplinary in nature, with a broader objective of the development of organic functional materials.
