About the Program

VM program is based on the following five pillars for cultivation of Hindu Jain sanskars. 


Locations 

Hindu Jain Temple is pleased to announce a new location for in-person sessions in Wexford area to serve growing need of the community in this Pittsburgh North region. This year, classes are offered are offered at following locations.  

Please note classes will typically be held 3 Sundays a month at all of these three locations and one Sunday all classes will be held in the Temple community hall. During the combined session (held once a month in the Temple community hall)- special activities/workshops/presentations are planned. 



Timings & Typical Agenda

Classes are held only on Sundays (except SAT sessions)

9:50 AM - 10:00 AM - Arrival

10 AM -10:20 AM - Prarthna/Shloka

10:20 AM - 11:05 AM - Languages [ Hindi, Gujrati, Marathi]

11:05 AM - 11:10 AM - 5 minute break

11:10 AM - 11:35 AM - Dharm Class

11:35 AM - 12:00 PM - Yoga/ Bhajan Session

12:00 PM - 12:05 PM - USA and BHARAT National Anthems

12:05 - Lunch (Only for sessions held in Temple Community Hall)


SAT Sessions

Currently SAT classes are held online on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Each day there are three sessions, Students can join any of the session but try to be consistent.  It is recommended that student take English class on Saturdays and Math class on Sundays. Timing of the sessions are as follows. Link to join these sessions are provided once student is enrolled in Vidya Mandir program. We are currently exploring an option to include an in-person session as well. Students are given homework sheet to finish after each session. Parents are advised to ensure their children are completing it. 

6:45 PM to 7:30 PM

7:30 PM to 8:15 PM

8:15 PM to 9:00 PM

During the combined session, held once a month, a practice test will be given to students to be completed in-person while at the Temple and will have an opportunity to  meet the teacher(s). 


Presidents Volunteer Service Award

Starting this year, Students will have an opportunity to earn Presidents Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) for their volunteer hours. Students can earn hours by helping as teachers assistant (except for the religious class), coordinate activities during Vidya Mandir program, and/or helping with Temple organized community programs/events.
