It's history. With a twist.

It's historyish.
It's historyish.
Hi, I'm Melanie!
I've always been fascinated by stories of the past - so naturally I turned that into a career. I am a historian, professor, and archivist, and everywhere I go I find ways to connect the public to our collective past.
I have worked in the history field for over a decade at a variety of sites, both large and small. In 2023, I received my M.A. in history from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and my thesis: "each heart alone knoweth its own bitterness": The Jackson Family in Clarke County, Virginia, From Enslavement to Jim Crow" is published open access, because history should be accessible.
My work focuses on stories of people of the past - the ones that never made it to the textbooks.
