What Yearbooks Reveal About TAMU-CC:
When you look across all the decades, four major themes appear again and again.
Belonging: Students have always found community through organizations, activities, and shared experiences. Even as the campus changed, the desire to connect stayed the same.
Diversity: Representation grows over time as TAMU-CC becomes more inclusive and moves toward becoming a Hispanic-Serving Institution. The student body becomes richer in culture, identity, and perspective.
Campus Expansion: Each decade brings new buildings, new majors, and new opportunities. The physical and academic growth of the university mirrors the growth of the region and its student population.
Student Voice: Campus publications and student media shift from formal, institution-centered documents to more authentic, student-driven storytelling. Students begin defining what it means to be an Islander.
All of this reflects what we study in higher education: that involvement, representation, and identity play a major role in shaping the campus environment and the overall student experience.
