History Atlas is provided by MechSIT Private Limited - Jon David (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.
When you request historical content, the app sends your selected map coordinates, place or country, date, and topic to our Firebase backend. The backend sends the information needed to generate a response to OpenAI. The coordinates describe the place you selected on the map; the app does not use them to determine your device’s physical location.
We use Firebase App Check to help verify that requests come from a genuine app installation. This process may involve device and app integrity information handled by Google. Our backend may also process request information and maintain usage counts to protect the service and apply generation limits.
History cards you bookmark are stored on your device using local app storage. They are not uploaded as bookmarks to our backend. You can remove bookmarks in the app. Uninstalling the app generally removes its local data, subject to your device’s backup settings.
We use Google Firebase to operate and protect the history generation service, and OpenAI to generate historical content from your selections. When you choose to search for more information, the app opens a Google search using terms related to the history card you selected. Your use of that search is subject to Google’s privacy practices.
Local bookmarks remain on your device until you remove them or the app’s local data is deleted. Backend usage records and operational logs may be retained as needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service. We use app verification and a server-side connection for history generation. No method of storing or transmitting information is completely secure.
If the app is intended for children, we will review its data practices and update this policy and the app’s protections to meet applicable requirements before making it available to them.
We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date.
