What do DNA records reveal about the events of history?
History tells us about many things that happened in the past . But are its stories true, or could some have been embellished, twisted or even entirely fabricated by the storytellers?
DNA cannot be embellished, twisted or fabricated. In the right conditions it can survive for thousands of years after its carriers have died, and is passed onto descendants for eternity.
Everyone's DNA is different. No two people are exactly the same. Today we have the technology to analyse in detail the DNA of both people living today and those who died and were buried a long time in the past. And in doing so, we can trace DNA from generation to generation and see how it has changed. To put it another way, we can use it to see history developing.
So do DNA records confirm the stories we have learned from history, or do they suggest different stories? Here I will be examining various historical accounts, myths and legends, and putting them to the DNA test.
