I earned my PhD from SOAS University of London in 2007. I am currently affiliated with the Buffett Institute for Global Affairs at Northwestern University and previously I have been a Lecturer in the Department of History at the University of Limerick. I published two books with IB Tauris, in 2009 'Jerusalem from the Ottomans to the British' and in 2011 'Jerusalem in World War I: the Palestine Diary of a European Consul'. I am also working on a new book in Italian. I am the Executive Editor of the Jerusalem Quarterly and a reviewer for a number of publishers. The most recent publication is an important article on Middle Eastern Studies "The deal of the century? The attempted sale of the Western Wall by Cemal Pasha in 1916" (2021). In addition a chapter ‘From riots to massacres: How space and time changed urban violence in Jerusalem, 1920-1929’ (2023).
I am currently working on several small projects, including an article submitted for publication looking at the question of Christian-Zionism in relation to Jerusalem.
