My love for writing and history began in fourth grade. I am a graduate of Indiana University (Bachelor of General Studies, 2002) and American Military University (Masters in Military Studies - Civil War, with honors, 2006). From 2006 - 2020, I served as the editor of the Hardtack, the newsletter for the Indianapolis Civil War Round Table. I am an adjunct history professor at American Public University System. I am a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. I received the Women in American History Award in 2018 from my Caroline Scott Harrison DAR Chapter. I received the Doctor Mary Edwards Walker Award in 2020 from the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Department of Indiana.
A Daughter of Job My maiden name is Job. In the Bible, Job endured many trials and tribulations. When I began writing this book, I was only thirty-three years old. As I am finishing this book, I am now fifty-seven years old. Like Job, I have endured many difficult times in my life. Some problems seemed so trivial while others have been life-threatening, including a bout with Hodgkin's Disease, a lymph node cancer. I have faced many medical tests: biopsies, exploratory surgery, oral surgeries, CAT scans, Gallium scan, bone marrow biopsy, radiation treatments, EMG, and neurosurgery. Facing these problems can be overwhelming; however, with the LORD in my life: "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Philippians 4:13) My book deals with a multitude of problems from the eyes of one who has endured them. It is my hope and prayer that this book can be an encouragement to those facing similar trials.
