Beverly was a founding and devoted member of HISSC serving as Secretary from the time of the Chapter’s founding. Beverly strived to grow the Chapter and promote HISSC to new members. Her enthusiasm and southern hospitality were a breath of fresh air to new and potential members.
This award shall be limited to first-time meeting attendees who are unable to acquire funding from their state to attend the HISSC Annual Meeting. The nominee must be a "Regular Member" of HISSC, defined as a state employee engaged in plant pest inspection work as inspectors or supervisors, in the field, laboratory or office, other than administrative personnel.
IMPORTANT NOTES
The amount of the Beverly Bewley Award shall be determined by the Chapter’s available funds and procured through the Chapter’s general funds.
The total award will not exceed $500.00.
The scholarship shall be used for the expenses of hotel accommodations, transportation and meals for the Annual Meeting of the Chapter.
The registration fee for the Annual Meeting of the Chapter shall be waived for the award recipient.
Any expenses other than those stated above shall be the responsibility of the recipient.
The winner shall be notified by the Chapter President. If the recipient declines, the alternate will be selected.
The funds will be presented during the Annual Meeting of the Chapter.
Nominations for the Beverly Bewley Award shall be postmarked no later than August 7. The awards committee will then review the nominations and select two finalists to be presented to the Executive Committee of the Chapter. The Executive Committee will then make the final selection.

The amount of the Tavo Good Spirit Award shall not exceed $500.00, pending adequate funding from the program budget.
The scholarship shall be used to aid in the expense of hotel accommodations, transportation and meals for the Annual Meeting of the Chapter.
The registration fee for the Annual Meeting of the Chapter shall be waived for the recipient of the award.

This award is given in recognition of outstanding achievement by a member of HISSC. The nominee must be a "Regular Member" of HISSC, defined as a state employee engaged in plant pest inspection work as inspectors or supervisors, in the field, laboratory or office, other than administrative personnel.
Nominations for the HISSC Distinguished Achievement Award shall be based on the following criteria:
Demonstrate outstanding performances to HISSC and/or the state where employed.
Recognized by peers in the horticulture industry.
Able to work harmoniously with other state inspectors and solve problems on plant protection issues.
Promote high standards of inspections by training and sharing expertise with fellow employees and members of HISSC.
IMPORTANT NOTES
The committee will select no more than one recipient for the HISSC Distinguished Achievement Award annually.
The overall HISSC Distinguished Achievement Award winner will be submitted to the Southern Plant Board to be considered for the Carl Carlson Award.
The Distinguished Achievement Award winner, to be considered for the Carl Carlson Award, must submit all required information to the Southern Plant Board Chairman through the HISSC Awards Committee.
