Help support our trip to the Chicago Robotics Invitational Premier Event in July!
To communicate well - Robotics encourages us to communicate within our team, with our mentors, our grammar students, our administration, as well as with the FIRST Tech community.
To develop an insatiable curiosity - As we seek to build and rebuild the most effective robot for the task, we learn to continuously ask “How can this design be improved?”
To think deeply and creatively - While we work independently as well as with others, we seek outside answers and other opinions to help us problem solve, and stretch our understanding of robot function and design.
To recognize beauty and a sense of wonder - As we do robotics, we learn to recognise beauty in the order and structure that is inherent to a machine. We also develop our ability to see reality in a new way, from varied perspectives. Robotics teaches us to be teachable, to ask questions, to recognize that our answers aren’t always right. Seeing this beauty helps us unlock the key to wonder, curiosity, and imagination.
To think critically and logically - Robotics trains us to identify problems and ask questions well. It also teaches us to be thinkers and innovators, and to grow in understanding the world around us and how things fit together.
The FIRST Core Values emphasize gracious professionalism, respect for the contributions of others, teamwork, learning, and community involvement. FIRST’s emphasis on fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion is also in line with our school vision.
Our goal is to continue to ignite student interest in learning through robotics so that future students can experience the wonderful world of robots.
