Profile information: profile photo, user type (tenant or landlord), and preferences
Property listing information: property address, photos, descriptions, pricing, and availability
Messages and communications sent through our in-app messaging system
Payment information: M-PESA phone number and transaction references (we do not store full card numbers)
Identity verification documents where required by law or for enhanced account features
Feedback, reviews, ratings, and support requests you submit to us
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
Device identifiers: device type, operating system, unique device ID, and mobile network information
Usage data: pages viewed, features used, search queries, time spent on the Platform, and interactions

When you list a property or contact a landlord, certain profile information (name, profile photo, rating) is visible to other users to facilitate transactions. We do not share your email address or phone number without your explicit consent.

We share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Platform, including:
Cloud hosting and storage providers (e.g., Firebase/Google Cloud)
Payment processors (e.g., Safaricom M-PESA)
Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics)

Email and SMS communication providers
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.
4.3 For Legal Reasons
We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to:

Transaction records are retained for a minimum of 7 years as required by financial regulations
Messages and communications are retained for 2 years after the last activity
Device and usage logs are retained for up to 12 months
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time as described in Section 7. Some information may be retained after deletion where required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.

You may opt out of receiving promotional communications from us by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly. You will continue to receive transactional messages necessary for the operation of your account.

The Hillxora Homes Platform is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18 without parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our systems.

Hillxora Homes operates globally and your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws of your country.

13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, HILLXORA HOMES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM OR ANY BREACH OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF REVENUE, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO PRIVACY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US, IF ANY, IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR LIABILITY. IN SUCH JURISDICTIONS, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Hillxora Homes, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and successors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Platform, your violation of this Privacy Policy, or your violation of any rights of another.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
Posting the updated Privacy Policy on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date
Sending an email notification to your registered email address
Displaying a prominent notice within the Platform
