Hello! I've been an alderman for about 4 1/2 years. I was appointed in 2020 by Mayor Steve Morley, and subsequently elected to the position in 2021.
I've lived in Elmhurst for 22 years. As the son of a Army veteran, and an Army veteran myself, Elmhurst is the longest I've lived anywhere!
At Elmhurst University, I'm a tenured professor and librarian. I've been on faculty there since I moved to town and met my wife (now married 19 years). We have a three sons: Sam, turning 15 soon, and my twins Ben and Jack, turning 12 this month. They are at York and Churchville.
I tend to be involved in a LOT of things in town- the aforementioned University, the American Legion, (board member), the Veterans Commission, City parade planning groups, pedestrian advocacy, stormwater task force, business associations, and more!
I have been involved in many initiatives at the council, which were voted on and passed. Some examples include the Elmhurst Sidewalk Master Plan and other related sidewalk projects (sidewalk cost-sharing), city motor pool electrification, Veterans city sticker discount, food truck zoning, and other items still pending.
I have other hobbies- I'm a drummer (adult newbie) in an Elmhurst-based rock cover band and I really enjoy working on older cars- but my main concerns are raising my family and modeling civic participation. I love being an alderman!
