Abstract:
This study investigates the influence of carbon-plated racing shoes in race times in elite track and road events, utilizing data from the summer Olympic Games between 2012 and 2020. Through observational analysis and statistical testing, it examines performance trends across various distances, highlighting the differential impact of plated shoes. While significant improvements are observed in longer-distance events, statistical analysis does not yield definitive results. Nonetheless, the study underscores implications for athletes, industry innovation, and the broader landscape of competitive running.
