Hill Family Cattle is owned and operated by Jayson, Annette, and Kannon Hill of East Bernard, Texas and was started in 2021 when Kannon began showing cattle at the Texas Major Livestock Shows.
Jayson's passion for cattle started when he was a young boy helping his Grandfather take care of his commercial beefmaster cattle. He looked forward to going to the barn to feed cubes or hay and to just be around the cattle. In High School, Jayson participated in the calf scramble and raised a Limousin heifer, furthering his interest in cattle. He was active in 4-H and FFA and raised pigs and a heifer for the county fairs and competed in livestock judging.
Annette was rasied on a rice farm and cattle ranch. She took to helping her Dad with whatever tasks needed to be done around the farm. She raised chickens for the local fair and showed horses through 4-H.
With agriculture, 4-H, and FFA being an integral part of Jayson and Annette's upbringing there was no doubt that Kannon was going to be involved. He started off strong by showing Simbrah heifers at the Texas Major Livestock Shows and commercial heifers for the county fair.
Kannon quickly fell in love with showing cattle and now it has become a family affair. We currently have a small herd of Registered Simbrah Cattle in which we use artificial insemination and embryo transfer to produce quality Purebred and Percentage Simbrah cattle. We even castrate and feed out some bull calves in order to provide beef for customers who want to know where and who raised their beef. See our Ranch Beef page for more info.
We understand the importance of youth livestock projects and wholeheartedly believe that participating in the Major Livestock Shows as well as the Texas Junior Simmental & Simbrah Association and the American Junior Simbrah Association, and the American Junior Simbrah Roundup shows are life changing for the kids that participate.
