In 1999-2000, staff from Hillsboro School District and neighboring districts established a multicultural soccer program with student coordinators, himself included. Karleen Smith from Hilhi was among the staff participants. 

 One of his final objectives before leaving Hilhi was to reintegrate staff into the coordination and restore the program's academic and school-spirit focus in the creation of an inter-district sponsored league.
