I had the honor of serving as Events and Creative Director of the Fashion Design Student Association and it has been an amazing experience. From negotiating venue contracts to finding caterers and vendors, I wouldn't trade this for anything. FDSA has also given me a chance to showcase my own ideas and designs through our semesterly fashion shows.

Growing up, I loved going to the circus. I was simultaneously fascinated and terrified by the lions. I always appreciated how beautiful their fur was and how they were so majestic and so well trained but when their roar would make me run away in fear. I wanted to bring that powerful lioness to life through clothing.
My design was born out of my love for Back to the Future and the character Doc Brown. He’s a mad scientist that eventually falls in love in the 3rd movie in the series. There is this allure to mad scientists despite the fact that they are …mad. Something that draws you in— perhaps it’s a potion they created in their lab, but regardless we feel drawn to them and we feel drawn to that trope. While my design isn’t an exact copy of Doc Brown, it invokes the same devious and controlling feeling.
When thinking about this show’s theme I remembered reading Tale Tell Heart by Edger Allen Poe in middle school. My look describes that ghostly feeling of deep love that conquers us all and sometimes is so strong that we will go to great lengths to satisfy it.
