Welcome to my website, dear wanderer.
Here you will find all the information you might need to plan your trekking around the villages in Hsipaw (hopefully with me!), in the north of Shan state, Myanmar. But I didn't want to add too many info, as I don't want to spoil your adventure and keep you curious and mindful of all the big and small surprises you will encounter during the trekking. But if you need more info, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Looking forward to showing you around my special world
My name is Than Htike, I am from Hsipaw and can speak Burmese, Shan and English languages. I am an experienced independent trekking guide, who started hiking with guests and organising trekking tours from Hsipaw in 2012. I am very passionate about my work, which I actually consider more of a lifestyle than a job. I love to tell stories as well as hearing the stories that my guests bring to me from all over the world, and I am a traveller myself. When I can during the low tourist season in summer, I go and see the world too. I've been travelling in many places in Asia, but also in Europe in France. I've been making many international friends during the past 5 years because of my work, and hopefully I'll visit many of them in the future as well. Who knows, maybe one day I'll come and visit you too?! :)
ps: fun fact, I used to be a professional football player, and even played in the national team once!
Depending on your interest and availability (and on the weather!), I can organize trekking tours for 1 to up of 4 nights, or also just daily tour if you dont want to stay overnight in the villages. We would usually walk around 5-6 hours a day, but with the possibility to have several breaks. Accommodation and food is provided by the local families in the villages, and my guests often say that that's the best food they have tried in Myanmar!
We will visit Shan and Palaung villages and have the possibilities to interact with the local people and see their daily life (and greet the children we'll meet on our way). We will pass by hills covered with forest, tea trees and rice paddies. We'll cross rivers in the forest, have the possibility to swim close to a waterfall, and my friend from the village will prepare the wildest pic nic you'll ever have, using bamboo for cooking and drinking from custom-made bamboo glasses! He's quite a bamboo artist, I have to admit it.
I will tell you about our traditions and history, and I am always happy to hear from any question and curiosity you may have.
This trekking is ideal for those interested in nature, local culture and photography. You dont need a special training for it, and we can tailor the walk according to your need. I did the trekking also with families with children, and they really enjoyed it! We could also arrange a day out with the boat on the river, and many other possibilities, just contact me.
If you want to know more, you can also visit the Gallery and read the reviews of the people who came trekking with me.
Now to the boring stuff. Prices depend on how many days you want to do and how many people are interested in the trekking. A good number is about 5 people, but I can also organize trekking with 2 people only and up to 12 travellers, if you need.
Two days (one night) trek:
Three days (two nights) trek:
Cost includes everything, also the tuk tuk on the last day to go back to Hsipaw. The only thing that is not included is water, which is possible to buy in the villages.
