Notice the lights - this aircraft was originally built to fly 500lbs of mail 500 miles, at night. We believe Pitcairn developed this instrument lighting system because no other solution existed. We have checked with many notable experts and not one has ever seen these type of instrument lights! After 1933, Grimes lighting took over and dominated the lighting industry.
These lights are unique to Pitcairn and are not seen outside of Pitcairn Mailwing aircraft from this specific period. Because this project sat in storage for 80 years, many of the original features (like these lights) were still intact.
