Lee County Schools is committed to cultivating the next generation of educators by identifying, encouraging, and supporting students from middle school through their first day as teachers in a Lee County classroom.
Program Priorities
The LCS Education Leadership Academy is dedicated to delivering a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students for the academic demands of college and successful careers in education, establishing a robust early recruitment pipeline.
Over the course of their four years in the academy and continuing through their college journey, students will engage in meaningful internships, classroom observation experiences, and collaboration with educational professionals.
The program actively seeks to recruit candidates from underrepresented backgrounds, fostering a more inclusive future in education.
LCS will build strategic partnerships with Local Education Agencies (LEAs), community-based organizations, and Institutes of Higher Education (IHEs) to enhance program offerings and support.
LCS will proactively explore funding opportunities to attract and support students, ensuring a clear and sustainable pathway for aspiring educators.
This program is designed to cultivate the next generation of educators for our community. Students accepted into the program will engage in hands-on experiences beyond the classroom, allowing them to explore various careers in education. As seniors, program participants will have the opportunity to apply for the prestigious Sloan Scholarship, which provides financial support for college and a pathway to return to Lee County Schools as a teacher upon graduation. Additionally, students in the program will have access to numerous enrichment activities, including summer learning experiences and mentorship opportunities with education professionals.
