My Approach
Everyone wants to feel safe and supported while going through challenges. Confronting personal difficulties is not easy and effective counseling incorporates compassion, empathy, confidentiality, authenticity and a bond of trust. I work with teens and adults who feel anxious, depressed, angry, isolated, unmotivated, or overwhelmed and seek to find meaning and purpose in busy and stressful lives. Together we can break down barriers in a safe, non-judgmental environment to develop healthy coping skills and create positive social connections, self-esteem, healing and wellness.
Counseling is an opportunity to connect with what matters, discover your identify and power within, and create goals for the future. I offer traditional talk therapy using evidenced-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Motivational Interviewing from a person-centered perspective and a strength-based approach. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and am registered with Star Behavioral Health as a military-aware civilian professional trained in Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 protocols.
I incorporate current life stressors, past experiences, lifestyle and environment, relationships and values into a collaborative process to address immediate circumstances while exploring root causes of distress.
