Sly and Robbie are extraordinary musicians (drummer and bassist respectively)who played a crucial role in the development of dancehall music in the late 1980s and early 1990s; when the genre was dependent on the rhythm section emphasis stemming from dub music practices. While their hits are too numerous to list, their Bam Bam riddim exemplifies the fundamentals of a dancehall instrumental. It is also popular today internationally, and has been sampled in a number of recordings across the globe.
Jeremy Harding is a veteran in the dancehall business who has produced many of the most memorable hits of the 1990s and early 2000s, including the Lightning and Liquid riddims. His Playground riddim in particular presents a concrete form of the dancehall genre as we know it, with a bassline that still resonates today.
