HigginsDesigns is a Missouri based practice and we pride ourselves on our hand crafted wood furniture, doors, and signs, for homes and offices. HigginsDesigns is a local company started by Joshua and Aly Higgins in Columbia, Missouri.
It all started when a motivated inspired, poor college couple went scoping houses out way out of their budget. On a warm sunny day in Columbia, Mo, Aly and I were scoping out house that we "thought" we could afford, little did we know what we were getting into. We drove up to a brand new house in the suburbs’ of Columbia, Mo to be greeted by a fellow motivated and inspired young realtor. As we walked into the front door of this brand new house one thing caught our eye. Sliding barn doors. Period. That's all we could talk about. These sliding barn doors were the feature point in this house for us. After talking with the realtor, we quickly decided that this house was out of our price range. However, the barn doors remained on our mind.
A few months later we bought our first house and decided we wanted a set of barn doors like we'd seen in the pervious home. However, once again these doors were not in our price range. Therefor that's where I (Josh) come in handy, I told my soon to be wife at the time" I could make those doors we saw at that one house". After a few days of research and planning I designed our first set of doors.
I enjoy building, creating, and designing, and take my time doing it, so when everything comes together you can appreciate my work. I pay special attention to detail and I believe the way I feel when I’m creating will show in the finished pieces I produce. When I’m not in the woodworking shop, you can usually find me at home with my Wife and son. I enjoy nature, music, guns, and good food. My hope is that through woodworking I can leave something behind one day and leave something with you that can be cherished for years to come.
