The U.S. National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps (I-Corps™) program is an immersive, entrepreneurial training program that facilitates the transformation of invention to impact. This immersive, seven-week experiential training program prepares scientists and engineers to extend their focus beyond the university laboratory — accelerating the economic and societal benefits of NSF-funded and other basic research projects that are ready to move toward commercialization.
Through this seven-week program, you will investigate and learn about the need for your technology idea or product by speaking directly to a potential customer population.
Innovation Corps (I-Corps) benefits include:
Teams
Receive $1000 in NSF-lineage funding simply for participating.
Find development and support for any of their technology-based ideas and research projects.
Get clarity on their customer.
Learn and apply best practices on the business model canvas.
Students
Acquire skill sets to become tomorrow’s innovative problem-solvers.
Build soft skill competencies that are critical for future internships and/or career positions.
Expand their network and access needed resources.
Additionally, once teams fully complete this short program, they are eligible to join, and apply for the $50,000 NSF National Level I-Corps program! After that, up to $300,000 of funding opportunities from the SBIR/STTR/PFI:AIR, Ohio ESP/TVSF and several other grant sources are highly possible.
