Superintendent Search UPDATED Timeline: 2023-2024

December 11th: Initial meeting with Board to review process and finalize criteria to appear in the ad, online through NJSBA and partners, calendar, and application questions.

Week of December 18th: Ad posted on NJSBA.org, Revelus and distributed to partners 

Wednesday - January 24, 2024: Staff input day: ex. administrators, office staff, superintendent; teachers/aides, community, central office. Meetings will take place in the Middle School / High School Media Center.  379 Boulevard.

• 2:30 PM - Central Office Staff

• 3:30 PM - Teachers / Staff / District Employees

• 4:30 PM - District Administrators

• 6:30 PM - Students, Parents, & Community Members

January 31st: Deadline for receipt of completed applications

February 5th:  Consultants review applicants with the Board. The Board selects applicants for first-round interviews with the Board. 

February 26, 27, 28, 29: Board conducts first-round interviews. 

March 5, 6, 7: The Board conducts second-round interviews and selects two to three finalists.  

March 12 & 13th: The Board conducts third-round interviews and selects one finalist. 

March 19 - 21: References are checked after receiving candidate clearance.  District visitations are scheduled (if applicable). Upon successful completion of the above, begin contract negotiations.

Late March 2024: The Board submits the new contract to the Executive County Supt for approval (30 days or less).

April 1st: Board hires, and publicly approves new Superintendent 

April 9th: Board of Education publishes press release on Superintendent search update.  Search reopened with revised requirements.

April 29th: Consultant reviews applicants with the Board. The Board selects applicants for first-round interviews with the Board.

May 6th & 7th: The Board conducts first-round interviews.

May 13th & 15th: The Board conducts second-round interviews.

May 21st: The Board conducts third-round interview(s) (if necessary).

Late May/Early June: References are checked after receiving candidate clearance.  District visitations are scheduled (if applicable). Upon successful completion of the above, begin contract negotiations.

June 2024: The Board submits the new contract to the Executive County Supt for approval (30 days or less).

July/August 2024: The new superintendent begins work in the district, 60/90 days after the appointment date
