We have invited Olly Parsons, whom some of you will remember from the Acceleration week in Munich, to join us for an open hour. He will provide a short introduction into himself as his work and then facilitate a space for you to bring your stories, knowledge, questions and challenges to him around his areas of expertise.

A bit about Olly:

Olly is Acting Director leading the Mobile for Humanitarian Innovation Fund at GSMA (the trade association representing the mobile industry). They have a portfolio of 23 projects operating globally whom he is supporting to adjust or pivot in response to COVID 19. He has worked mostly in mobile enabled humanitarian innovation and communication in emergencies. He has supported a wide range of innovators working in this space and knows about partnering with the mobile industry, and utilising mobile and digital tools in humanitarian innovation.

Some areas to discuss with Olly could be:

How to pivot aspects of your innovation using digital in order to overcome some of the challenges caused by COVID 19 such as virtual training testing and user research

Identifying value propositions for mobile network operators and other partners

Thursday 7th May

On the 2nd April, Emma, who most of you met at Accelerator Week, ran a successful webinar for the International Development Community on adapting to COVID. (It was wonderful to see a few of you there!) Nearly 100 people got together online to have some deep discussions with one another about how they were adapting to COVID and what they, and the sector, might do at this time to respond. We will be running a similar event on the 6th May for frontline innovators. This time it is an invite only event for those on the following programmes:

- Hope in Conflict: A Humanitarian Grand Challenge

- The Frontier Technology Programme

- The EdTech Hub

- Mobile for Humanitarian Innovation Fund

It will be a highly interactive event giving you the chance to meet individuals, and chat in groups to share your ideas, challenges and learn from others.
