The Hazel Green Academy Revitalization Project Leadership Team is composed of five seniors at the Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics who are mentored by Dr. Rachel Rogers.
Dr. Rachel Rogers serves as Assistant Professor of Research/Craft QEP at the Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics at Morehead State University. With a Ph.D. in STEM Education, B.S. in Biological Science, B.A. in Speech Communication, M.A. in Teaching, Rank I for M.A. in Education , a National Board Certification in Adolescent Young Adulthood Science in Biology, and a dedication to impacting young Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) leaders, she plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of STEM excellence.
Natalie Brooks is a senior at the Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics. She hopes to attend college and major in pre-medicine. Beyond her academic pursuits, Natalie is in charge of research for her LI Public Health Internship where she supports access to public health and awareness of Diabeties & Chronic illness in Bauchi State, Nigeria. She is also Vice President of Servant Leaders, a member of press team. Natalie serves as a Craft Academy Ambassador and was a former member of the ACTION Program at the Markey Cancer Center.
Heather Ott is a senior at the Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics. She plans to attend college to pursue a degree in psychology. Currently, she holds positions as the president of her school's Student Y Chapter, president of community service organization Servant Leaders, president of an ACT Prep Club, team lead for Press Team, team lead for the STEM-X Files, and serves as a ambassador for the Craft Academy.
Dani Smith is a senior at the Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics. She plans on attending college and pursuing a degree in art education. Outside of academics, Dani is a lead of several clubs including, Creative Writing club, Speech & Debate, and a community service club called Interact. She is the Head of PR for the Craft Academy Technology Student Association and assistant coach for the Craft Coalition FIRST Tech Challenge team.
Skylan Stevens is a senior at the Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics. She plans to attend college to pursue a nursing track. Skylan currently participates in a internship with UK St. Claire where she job shadows those working in Oncology.
Kya Taylor is a senior at the Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics. She plans to attend university and pursue a dual-degree in Sports Management and Marketing. Outside of academics, Kya volunteers with the Kentucky Hugh OBrien Youth Leadership State seminar to encourage high school students to develop personal leadership and teamwork skills. Shes also a leader of Student Y and Craft Culture club, clubs dedicated to encouraging advocacy throught teens.
