Jalen Hurts was an early was drafted 21st overall in the 2023 HG Draft by the Scandanavian Sea Thiefs. Manager and HC Garrett Thompson would not be outdone by rookie GM Thomas Hancock after Hancock selected Pat Mahomes in the 1st. Jalen Hurts would go on to finish as QB2 with 356 points scored, 38 total touchdowns and just over 4400 yards. Hurts was dominant all year through both the air and ground. His efforts would earn the Sea Thiefs the #2 seed and a third place finish in 2023.
Christian McCaffrey is the first player to ever be inducted into the HG HOF twice. His 2023 season rivaled his 2019 campaign and the voters agreed, he deserved a second induction. McCaffrey scored over 100 more points than RB2 on 21 touchdowns and 2,023 yards giving him an impressive 358 points scored in 2023. His insane 23 point average propelled the Type R's to their first ever playoff birth and eventual championship.
Widely regarded as "The best WR pickup of the year," CeeDee Lamb led the Sheppard SuperSonics to their first HG Championship game in 2023. The top ranked Wide Receiver scored 306 points with 12 touchdowns and 1,732 yards. Lamb led the Sonics to the championship before the Sonics fell 2 points short of immortality.
Josh Allen was an early 4th round pick in the 2022 HG League Draft. Manager and HC J Hoffman was committed to picking up what he viewed as the Shockers' championship QB. Allen finished 2022 as QB #2 and scored 395 fantasy points. With 4,775 yards and 39 touchdowns, Allen proved he was the QB the Shockers needed in 2022. While unable to play an entire game during the 2022 Nighthawk Bowl, Allen put up just enough points to ensure the Shockers defeated the Satellites by less than 2 points in route to their first HG League Championship.
Austin Ekeler was drafted by the Aurora Buffaneers but then traded to the Shockers in what will go down as the biggest trade in HG League history. Ekeler scored 313,9 points on 18 touchdowns and 1,567 yards. The RB #1 was brought to Upper Hillyard with the single purpose of winning their first championship. In the absence of QB #1 Josh Allen, Ekeler stepped up and scored 30 points to put the Shockers over the Satellites 104.82 - 103.
Justin Jefferson cemented what was known as "Wide Receiver U" in Buckley. Jefferson scored 304.66 points in 2022 off 9 touchdowns and 1795 yards. The combination of Devante Adams and Justin Jefferson seemed unstoppable at times. Jefferson was able to lead the Satellites to the league's #1 scoring offense and gave us the second best WR performance in the last 4 years.
The Legend of Patrick Mahomes continued to be written in the 2021 season. Mahomes finished the year with 361.66 fantasy points and was ranked the #4 QB in the league. Mahomes dropped 5,220 total yards and 39 total touchdowns during the season and led the Shockers to their third straight NTTR championship. While the #1 seed 10-4 Shockers fell short in the divisional round, Mahomes still scored 24 points in the losing effort.
The Satellites missed out on the playoffs after a 7-7 season but the 353.1 point performance by Jonathan Taylor was too good to ignore in 2021. Taylor ran for 1811 yards while gathering 360 more receiving yards on the year. Taylor scored 20 Touchdowns on the year and was able to keep an underperforming Buckley team at .500 on the season.
Cooper Kupp was another player in 2021 that had an insane year but was unable to bring his team in the playoffs. At 6-8, Cooper Kupp was just about the only thing going well for the Iceland Swingers. Kupp scored 367 points in 2021. With 1,947 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns, Kupp was the undisputed WR #1 and earned his place in the HG Hall of Fame.
Kyler Murray was the #2 ranked QB for 2020. He averaged 23.7 points per game for a total of 378.74 points on the season. Kyler gained 4,790 yards and scored 37 total touchdowns for the San Marcos Lunar Willzyx. Murray led the team to a 10-4 record and a #1 seed in the 2020 playoffs. He capped off the year with an impressive 33 point performance in a 135-99 beatdown of the SD Dude Bros.
The 2020 #1 RB was Alvin Kamara. 1,688 yards and 21 touchdowns brought Kamara to a whopping 336.3 point year for the Upper Hillyard Shockers. Kamara's efforts earned the Shockers a 9-4 regular season record and their second straight NTTR Division Championship.
Davante Adams was a monster for the Buckley Satellites in 2020. The #1 WR put up 1374 yards and 18 touchdown receptions. 300.9 total points on the year earned the Satellites the #2 seed, 10-4 record and an eventual trip to the second HG League Nighthawk Bowl. Adams would singlehandedly put the Satellites over the Willzyx with an incredible 38 point performance in a 144-107 championship victory.
Lamar Jackson finished the 2019 season as the #1 ranked QB in the league. He averaged 27.7 points per game and finished the year with 415.68 fantasy points. Jackson threw for 3,127 yards while rushing for another 1206 yards. He scored 43 total touchdowns and only turned the ball over 8 times. Lamar's greatest moment came in the Wildcard round of the HG Playoffs when he put up 23 points to help the Las Vegas Creech Dudes route the favored Centennial Brittle Bois 107-68.
Christian McCaffery was the #1 RB in the 2019 season. McCaffery gained 2392 total yards from scrimmage while cashing in on 19 total touchdowns. He averaged 25.8 points per game and finished the season with 413.2 points. McCaffery was the highest scoring player for the Stark Vegas Jolly Greenes in the 2019 Nighthawk Bowl in their championship victory against the #1 seed Upper Hillyard Shockers 118.36 to 100.14
Michael Thomas, the #1 WR for 2019, put up an impressive 300.1 fantasy points to lead the Wyoming Nukes to a 3rd place finish in the inaugural season of the HG League. Thomas racked up 149 receptions, 1725 yards and 9 touchdowns on the year.
