15th International Workshop on Human-Friendly Robotics
Delft, The Netherlands, 22-23 September 2022
CALL FOR PAPERS
We are witnessing a growing number of applications carried out by robots in close collaboration with humans. This new generation of human-friendly robots will need to be safe and trustworthy in a physical and cognitive sense. New paradigms for the holistic development of collaborative cognitive robots need to be envisioned and experimentally validated. The benefit of humans and society is the central objective of such research effort and existing opportunities are arising from different application domains such as healthcare and high-tech systems.
The International Workshop on Human-Friendly Robotics (HFR 2022) will be held on 22-23 September, 2022, at the Delft University of Technology and is a single-track symposium that aims at bringing together academic scientists, researchers and industry to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects related to the introduction of robots into everyday life. The workshop covers a wide range of topics related to human-robot interaction, both physical and cognitive, including theories, methodologies, technologies, and empirical and experimental studies.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
physical human-robot interaction
cognitive human-robot interaction
cooperative task execution and sliding autonomy
control methods for safe and adaptive interaction
human-centered and interaction-based robot design
multi-modal human-robot communication
human monitoring & intention recognition
cognitive modelling for human-robot interaction
learning by demonstration
human factors & human-in-the-loop
benchmarking & performance analysis
safety in human-robot interaction
social and ethical issues related to human-robot interaction
social robots
collaborative robots
telerobotic systems
medical and rehabilitation devices
INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
SUBMISSION OF THE MANUSCRIPTS FOR REVIEW
We invite the submission of papers (maximum 15-pages, single column, in PDF format) or extended abstracts (maximum 4-pages, single column, in PDF format), which should be submitted for the review process. Please use the Springer Proceedings in Advanced Robotics (SPAR) format available at the following link where you can find Latex and Word templates. The authors' guidelines for the preparation of contributions come with the templates. The initial manuscript submission deadline is 27 June 2022 (extended) Anytime on Earth (AoE) via the EasyChair paper submission system:
https://easychair.org/cfp/HFR2022
Accept/Reject decisions will be made by 1 August 2022.
SUBMISSION OF CAMERA-READY MANUSCRIPTS
A selection of accepted papers will be included within a volume of the Springer Proceedings in Advanced Robotics (SPAR) dedicated to the HFR 2022 event. On the other hand, the extended abstracts will not be published in the proceedings but only presented at the workshop. Authors of accepted papers and extended abstracts have to:
1. Register for the conference, by 5 September 2022
2. Submit the final PDF file, by 6 September 2022
3. Submit all the final source files, that will be requested to the selected papers with a specific email to the corresponding author/s after the end of the workshop
The maximum allowable length for the papers is 15 pages including references. Please use the SPAR format available at the following link where you can find Latex and Word templates. The authors' guidelines for the preparation of contributions come with the templates.
Final (camera-ready) paper upload instructions:
Log in as an author to https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=hfr2022
In the upper-left corner menu tab, click on your submission number
Then in the upper-right corner click on the "Update file"
Upload/replace the PDF file with the final version
If you experience any trouble, please contact us at L.P.BorjaRosales@tudelft.nl
One registration can be linked to a maximum of 2 papers/abstracts.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRESENTERS
There will be two types of presentations: a 10 min talk (+5 min for questions from the audience), or an interactive poster session. At least one author per paper must present at the conference. Presenters will use their own laptops for the presentation.
