As Community Education programs grow, our need for programming space has become a barrier to offering new and fun opportunities for both youth and families. We know there are families in our district that may not have transportation or financial means to attend our programming. So...we're bringing programming to you!
Community Education has transformed a school bus for community programming. A Skoolie (or Schoolie) by definition is a school bus that is converted into a recreational vehicle. We are so excited to bring innovative programming to South Washington County School through this new mobile classroom.
Skoolie allows Community Education to offer convenient, affordable activities for kids to do on weeknights, non-school days, summer, and even weekends.
SoWashCo CARES is offering backpacks and school supplies to students attending SoWashCo Schools for the 2026–27 school year.
Families may request supplies by completing a separate form for each child. Please provide the student's age, grade, and school (gender is optional). Requested items will be delivered to the student's school, and families will be notified when they are available for pickup.
While every effort will be made to fulfill requests, supplies are not guaranteed. If your child has specific supply needs, please include them in the "Other Notes" section of the request form.
A variety of local resources are available to support SoWashCo Schools families experiencing financial hardship or other challenges. Services include food shelves, free grocery stores, clothing and household assistance, housing support, medical coverage resources, crisis services, and help applying for public benefits.
Families can access food assistance through community food shelves and free grocery stores in Oakdale, Cottage Grove, Stillwater, and surrounding areas. Additional support is available for housing instability, homelessness, domestic violence, youth in crisis, and basic needs such as clothing and household items.
Community organizations, county programs, libraries, and school staff can help families connect with resources, apply for benefits, and access support services. If your family is experiencing hardship, assistance may be available through local agencies, SoWashCo CARES, school counselors, and school social workers.
