While my perspective influences how I engage with EDI, I recognize that each person's experiences and needs are unique. We foster a culture grounded in dignity, respect, and belonging. Harassment, bullying, discrimination, intimidation, and exclusionary behaviour are not tolerated. We encourage diverse viewpoints, approach differences with curiosity and empathy, and promote constructive dialogue, particularly when opinions differ. We strive to create a space where individuals can engage authentically, feel valued for their contributions, and participate without fear of marginalization.

We believe that academic excellence, innovation, and meaningful collaboration are strengthened when people feel supported and empowered to share their knowledge, ideas, and experiences.

Land/Territorial Acknowledgement

Members of the HEWSL team come from different backgrounds and regions. We live and work on Treaty 6 and the Homeland of the Métis. We thank the First Nations and Métis for their care and stewardship over this land and water. We pay our respects to the ancestors of these places and reaffirm our relationship with one another. The intent and goal of our research are to advance understanding and prediction of water extremes to support conscious stewardship of lands and waters and safeguard the environment for future generations.
