<Fake Plastic Table> explores the aesthetics of errors that often occur within a perfect production system. Recalling the ‘charm of imperfection’ felt in childhood toys with misaligned molding, the artist looks for authenticity in clumsiness rather than precision.
This work features elements that should be separate fused together, or patterns that should be sharp deliberately blurred. Surfaces that should be hard are soft, while parts that should be flexible are instead rigidly hardened. Through this sense of reversal, the artist exposes the hypocrisy and artificiality of a world built on ‘accuracy,’ questioning the boundaries of the material perfection we have grown accustomed to consuming.
