My name is He Tianyu [ten-you or "Ti"]. I am an Assistant Professor of Management and Organisation at the National University of Singapore Business School. I received my Ph.D. in Management from INSEAD; M.A. in Sociology from Emory University; LL.B in Sociology and B.S. in Psychology from Peking University.
I am curious about how people work together to solve problems and inspire new ideas. In particular, I explore social influence in shaping core collaborative processes such as alternative generation and evaluation; the role of evolving technologies in expanding and complicating collaboration; and the ways individual differences, such as socioeconomic standing and power positions, affect collaborative potential.
Using a mixed-methods approach, my research delves into exciting frontiers enabled by new ways of working and the integration of artificial intelligence in collaboration, as well as established aspects of group design, like effective hierarchies and leadership. I also enjoy using computational tools, such as natural language processing and topic modeling, to trace communication patterns, measure creativity, and uncover insights into the often-hidden dynamics of collaboration.
