At 28 months, the child is now pronouncing around 70% of all words intelligibly. On top of this, they are also now showing phonological processes such as final-consonant omission and substitution of consonants.

Like said in the past section, at 24 months old the child is beginning to use two-word combinations. They are also using the prepositions "in" and "on" and are using plural and possessive morphemes and some irregular past tense verbs. They also have an MLU around 1.92 and are in Brown's Stage II.
At 28 months, they are now heading towards Brown's Stage III at around 30 months. They are also using present progressive morpheme -ing with mastery now.
Between 32-36 months, the child is using contractions and 25% of all their utterances consist of single nouns. 25% also consist of single verbs. At this age, they have an MLU around 2.85-3.16.

As children are learning about spoken language, they are also learning about written language through books, signs, and notes. They also pick up on what their parents are doing.
Before learning to read words, children learn that print represents words and before writing, they learn to make marks and draw pictures. Only later on do they understand the full picture.
