Biography
Her-Terng Yau was born in Taiwan in 1971. He received the B.S. degree from National Chung Hsing University, Taichung, Taiwan, in 1994. Then, he obtained the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, in 1996 and 2000, respectively. In that year, He won the first place of the best PhD thesis by the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering, 2000. In 2002, he was appointed Assistant Professor and then elevated to the position of Associate Professor and Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering in 2005 and 2008, respectively, at Far East University. In 2009 to 2020, he was invited as a Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering of National Chin-Yi University of Technology, Taichung, Taiwan. From August, 2020, he is a professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Chung Cheng University. He has won various awards in the past, and served as the committee chair, workshop chair, session chair and the keynote speaker of many famous IEEE conferences. During 2012 to 2015, he obtained Outstanding Young Scholar Program, warded by Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Taiwan, R.O.C. His research interests include nonlinear system analysis and control, signal processing, and intelligent fault diagnosis. He has published more than 100 SCI/SCIE journal papers in the areas of his research. Back in his own university, he received the President’s Award for Outstanding Research from 2010 to 2018, and Special support for outstanding scholars, awarded by Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Taiwan, R.O.C., 2010-2018. From 2018, he obtained the honor of IET(IEE) Fellow and IEEE Senior member.
