The North American Rescue Cat Tourniquet is a Real one-handed tourniquet proven to be 100% effective from the U.S Army's Institute of Surgical Research. Tests demonstrated that the CAT completely occluded blood flow of an extremity in case of a traumatic wound with significant hemorrhage.
The CAT uses a durable windlass system using a patented free-moving internal ring providing accurate circumferential strain to the extremity. Once adequately tightened, bleeding will stop and the windlass is locked into position. A hook and loop windlass retention strap is then implemented, securing the windlass to keep pressure during casualty evacuation. The CAT's unique double securing system avoids using screws and clips which may be hard to operate under survival anxiety or where fine motor abilities are compromised.
The patented Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) comprising the proprietary red tip design and the mechanical advantage of a band in a band was the Official Tourniquet of U.S. Army since 2005.
Highlights
New Single Routing Buckle for quicker application, decreased blood loss, effective slack elimination, fewer windlass works, and simplified training using single routine program criteria
Reinforced windlass pole with increased diameter for improved strength and competitive ribbing for enhanced traction
