My top pick for hermitshell headphone cases is the Hermitshell Hard Travel Case for Sony MDRZX110NC, winning because its compact EVA shell offers the perfect balance of rugged protection and pocket-friendly portability. The runner-up is the Hermitshell Hard Case for AfterShokz OpenRun Pro, a smarter choice if you need a snug fit specifically designed for unique open-ear bone conduction headsets that don't fold flat.
• Hermitshell Hard Travel Case — best for on-ear studio monitors; pick this if you need a slim, lightweight shield for Sony ZX series or JBL JR models that fits easily in a backpack side pocket.
• Hermitshell Hard Travel Case — best for active noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones; pick this if you own E7-series headsets from brands like Cowin or Silensys and require a slightly larger internal volume with water-resistant features.
• Hermitshell Hard Travel Case — best for wired DJ and mixing headsets; pick this if you use OneOdio A70s and need a roomy, durable box to protect bulky ear cups during transport to gigs or studios.
• Hermitshell Hard Travel Case — best for children's wireless headsets; pick this if you are protecting iClever HS19 or BTH12 models for a kid, where a bright pink color and compact shape make it easy to spot and carry.
• Hermitshell Hard Case — best for open-ear bone conduction devices; pick this if you rely on Shokz or AfterShokz audio gear and need a hard shell that accommodates their distinctive curved band without crushing the sensors.
• Hermitshell Hard Travel Case — best for budget-friendly foldable headsets; pick this if you have AILIHEN C8 or Artix CL750 units and want a heavy-duty black case that keeps microphone controls and volume buttons safe from dust.
The first case I am analyzing is designed specifically for the Sony MDRZX110NC and similar on-ear models, including the JBL JR series. It is a classic example of a purpose-built travel solution that prioritizes simplicity over excess bulk. The material is Ethylene Vinyl Acetate, which gives it a firm, protective exterior while remaining flexible enough to slide into tight spaces in a bag. Its dimensions are crafted to hold these specific headphones securely, preventing them from rattling around or getting crushed when you toss your bag into a locker or under an airplane seat.
This case is ideal for students or commuters who carry their listening gear daily. Because the design focuses on the exact shape of on-ear headphones, it eliminates the wasted space found in generic boxes. You get a solid barrier against bumps and scratches without adding significant weight to your loadout. The black finish is understated and professional, making it suitable for any setting from a classroom to a casual commute. It does not claim to be waterproof, so it is best kept away from heavy rain, but the EVA construction handles the occasional splash or humidity well enough for daily wear.
The main trade-off here is specificity. This case will not fit large over-ear headphones or anything significantly different from the intended Sony and JBL models. If you switch between wildly different headphone sizes frequently, this might feel too restrictive. However, for someone who owns one pair of on-ear headphones and wants dedicated, reliable protection, this is a no-nonsense solution that does exactly what it promises without fluff.

Moving to the second option, we look at the case tailored for the E7 series of Active Noise Cancelling Bluetooth headphones from various manufacturers like Cowin, Silensys, and PurelySound. This version steps up the protection level slightly, featuring a water-resistant rating that adds a layer of security against unexpected weather or spills. The internal dimensions are generous enough to accommodate the slightly bulkier build of ANC headsets, ensuring the headband isn't bent out of shape during transit.
I recommend this pick for travelers who value peace of mind regarding moisture and impact. The purple color makes it distinct, which helps you find it quickly in a sea of black bags. The "Heavy Duty Protection" feature mentioned in its description suggests a denser foam lining or reinforced corners compared to standard soft shells, giving you confidence that your expensive electronics are safe from drops. It is also notably lightweight despite its robust appearance, meaning you won't feel weighed down carrying it through an airport terminal.
The primary limitation is its size relative to smaller headsets. If you were to try to fit a tiny pair of earbuds or a small on-ear model inside, it would likely rattle loosely unless you added extra padding. It is strictly designed for the specific footprint of the E7-class headphones. For owners of these popular noise-canceling models, however, the combination of water resistance and ample space makes it a standout choice for keeping your audio gear pristine.
Hermitshell Hard Travel Case
The third case addresses the needs of audiophiles and professionals using the OneOdio A70 or similar wired over-ear studio monitors. These headphones are often larger and heavier than consumer models, requiring a case with more substantial interior room. This unit boasts internal measurements that comfortably house the wide ear cups and the long cable management required for studio setups. The black and red color scheme adds a touch of visual flair that matches the aesthetic of many professional audio tools.
This is the go-to solution for musicians, podcasters, or DJs who need to move their equipment between home studios and live venues. The hard shell construction ensures that the delicate drivers and thick headbands of studio monitors do not suffer from compression damage. It handles the weight of the headphones well, providing a stable base that prevents the case from tipping over or sliding around inside a larger bag. The lack of water resistance is a minor concern in controlled environments, but the focus here is clearly on structural integrity rather than outdoor durability.
The trade-off is that this case is not as portable as the smaller versions. It is bulkier and takes up more real estate in your gear bag. If you are traveling light and just need to grab a pair of headphones for a quick session, this might feel like overkill. But for anyone serious about protecting high-end wired studio gear, the extra space and rigid protection are essential investments to prevent costly repairs or replacements.
Next, we examine the case designed for kids' headphones, specifically the iClever HS19 and BTH12 models. This version stands out with its vibrant pink color and compact form factor, signaling that it is built with younger users in mind. The materials are durable, yet the overall package is designed to be handled by children without breaking easily. The closure mechanism is simple, allowing kids to access their music without frustration, while still keeping the device secure.
Parents will appreciate this case for its ability to keep lost headphones contained and protected from the inevitable drops, tumbles, and rough handling that come with childhood. The bright color acts as a visual cue, making it easier to locate if dropped on the floor or left behind in a playroom. The compact size ensures it doesn't dominate a child's backpack, leaving room for books and snacks. It is a practical, everyday carrier that simplifies the responsibility of owning personal audio gear.
The downside is that this case is too small for adult-sized headphones. It is exclusively fitted for the specific dimensions of the iClever kids' line. Trying to force a full-size adult headset into it would result in a poor fit that could damage both the case and the device. For its intended audience, however, it strikes the right balance between fun aesthetics and functional protection, making it a smart buy for families.
The fifth option is a specialized hard case for open-ear bone conduction headphones like the AfterShokz Trekz Air, Aeropex, and Shokz OpenRun Pro. This product is unique because it must accommodate a device that has no ear cups and a distinct curved band. The internal size is calculated precisely to cradle the bone conduction transducers and the flexible band without applying pressure that could warp the frame or damage the sensitive components.
This case is essential for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts who use open-ear technology to stay aware of their surroundings while listening to podcasts or music. The blue color is striking and easy to spot in a gym bag or on a trail bench. The "Heavy Duty Protection" ensures that the unique shape of these headphones survives impacts that might crush a traditional over-ear design. It is a testament to how much thought goes into designing cases for non-traditional audio hardware.
However, like all custom-fit cases, it lacks versatility. You cannot use this for any other type of headphone. If you decide to switch to a standard pair of over-ear cans, this case becomes useless. Yet, for the specific user who relies on bone conduction tech for running or cycling, this is likely the only case that will truly fit and protect their gear correctly. It solves a specific problem that generic boxes simply cannot address.
Hermitshell Hard Travel Case
Finally, we look at the case made for lightweight foldable headphones such as the AILIHEN C8, Elecder i39, and ARTIX CL750. These models are designed for portability, folding down to a very small size. The case reflects this by being compact and efficient, offering a tight fit that minimizes movement inside the container. The black finish is neutral and professional, hiding scuffs and dirt well during daily commutes.
This is an excellent choice for budget-conscious buyers who still want quality protection for their foldable gear. The heavy-duty protection feature implies a sturdy shell that can withstand being packed tightly alongside other items in a bag. It is particularly useful for those who travel frequently and need a case that won't take up much space but will still safeguard the microphone and volume control buttons on the ear cup.
The trade-off is that it is strictly for foldable models. If you have a non-folding headset, it simply won't close properly. Additionally, the lack of water resistance means it should not be used in wet conditions. But for the everyday commuter who folds their headphones up and wants a slim, durable pouch to keep them safe, this case delivers exactly what is needed without unnecessary bulk.
We compared published specs and features across all available data sheets to determine the best options for different use cases. The ranking is our independent editorial opinion based on design intent, material quality, and compatibility. No brand paid for placement or influenced these selections.
Most of the listed cases are water-resistant or not water-resistant depending on the specific model. Only the E7-series case explicitly mentions water resistance, while others are designed for dry indoor use only. Always check the specific product details before taking your gear into the rain.
No, every listing specifies that the sale includes the case only. The headphones, cables, and accessories are sold separately. You must purchase your audio device independently before using these protective shells.
Generic cases often leave too much empty space, leading to rattling and potential damage. Using a case designed specifically for your headphone model ensures a snug fit that protects your equipment from bumps and scratches more effectively.
For calls, the best open ear headphones for calls often pair with the Hermitshell Hard Case for AfterShokz OpenRun Pro due to the clarity of bone conduction mics, but the best bluetooth headset for calls like the Sony MDRZX110NC also benefits from the Hermitshell Hard Travel Case for Sony MDRZX110NC to keep the mic clean and undamaged.
