As a part of our philosophy of providing comprehensive services in affordable housing projects, across the Blythe Street Apartments, Hermandad has La Canchita. It is a soccer academy located at 7915 Van Nuys Blvd, Panorama City, CA 91402. The program's purpose is to create a positive outlet for the youth in low-income neighborhoods. The area has bettered over the years, there are lower crime rates, substance abuse, and gang activity. 

The purpose of La Canchita is:

• Extend recreational activities to at-risk youth in the Blythe Street neighborhood. 

• Create an attractive facility as a social alternative to gangs where youth can congregate after school and on the weekends for socializing, recreation, and special events, and receive services to meet their personal and family needs. 

• Accommodate sports activities and large numbers of people through improved facilities. 

• Ensure a safe recreational environment for youth as an alternative to gangs and other undesirable behaviors by having a security door and fencing surrounding the grounds. 

• During June-August, Canchitas provides a summer soccer academy for children of all ages. The summer soccer academy takes place Monday-Friday in the mornings from 8 am-12 pm.

• This is where children will learn to play soccer during their summer break while giving the community a safe alternative for children.

• Visits consist of about 30 children daily which constitutes 150 weekly visits, 600 monthly visits, and 1,800 yearly visits during summer break. 

• The U13 category is developed through a tournament, where 9 teams participate. They play once a week.

• Most teams have 9 children, which constitutes 81 weekly visits, 324 monthly visits, and 3,888 yearly visits.

• Women older than 13 years of age can participate in the program. This includes grandmothers, mothers, daughters, etc.

• There are 8 teams, and each team has a minimum of 8 players. This constitutes 64 weekly visits, 256 weekly visits,                                                                                                   and 3,072 yearly visits.

• This category focuses on giving the community a sense of the importance of sports and the daily study of the sport.

• Canchitas gives a space to at-risk youth in the community.

• The motto is that with competition we can have healthier bodies and minds.

• 26 teams participate and each team has a minimum of 7 players.

• The schedules of this category are Monday-Friday from 7 pm-10 pm. This constitutes 182 weekly visits, 728 weekly visits, and 8,736 yearly visits.

The total number of people (children, girls, women, youth, adults, and veterans) who develop sports activities based on reduced football during the year 2021 in "La CANCHITA" is 21,546.
