history of the ancient Guest family of Britain to the modern day
Heritage 1066, the project had humble beginnings springing from discovery of a family chart held by John Guest's maternal grandfather but not acted on for confirmation until 2018 and early research by my wife Elizabeth's inquires into my great grandparents date of origin in the pace Templemore, Tipperary Ireland. The project from 2018 involved my collaboration with the Crown's Authority in the UK, the College of Arms, when the College of Arms supported the project. The primary aim of the project post 2018 was to reconcile family records last updated on the 16th December 1788 tied to the family branch Hallifax registered pedigree Ms 7D14/45 and due diligence of as many as possible known and verifiable family members made the project expansive. It officially concluded this year, 2025. Records reconciliation on the maternal line, tie back to 16th December 1788. The record Ms7D14/45 provides our family with a gateway lineage, verified back to England, Scotland and Ireland 1066.
The Guest patrilineal bloodline converging with mine taken back before 1543 to King Norton, Worcestershire and meritoriously by College of Arms grants, four in all, with the first given t my lineal ancestor Gyles Guest (Giles Geast), back to Saeric Gest 1066.
After some considerable work, and since January 2021, life biographies, legacies, photographs, illustration, maps and other images of male & female members of the family spreading to Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Ireland, Canada, USA & Australia from England become housed in the Heritage1066 archives.
Four books are genealogical and the primary resource for family Heritage1066 and containing the evidence required to restore the Guest family, paternal and maternal records, and to the standard required by the College of Arms. Another four books on Australian rules football also form a part of Heritage1066 focusing on the families sporting legacy in Melbourne.
Heritage1066, and its associated open access education resources and artefact's established since 2021* has been described as an in-kind philanthropic historical archive of some significance.
Records reconciled for the Guest paternal line are somewhat patchy between the years 1100 to 1450. The College of Arms considered by Guest Arms grants in 1543 that family members male, captured in the Guest Paternal Heritage book, the first instalment in the four book series, meritoriously offspring of Saeric Gest known to Domesday.
The mother line beyond the founder John Guest FCDA are reconciled on the longest lines back to 1066 and beyond on the longest of all bloodlines.
