Biography

Hyeonho 'Henry' Yu was a tenured elementary teacher in South Korea from 2003 to 2013 teaching all subject areas with a degree concentration in Physical Education. His primary research focus has been aimed at developing healthy and active school and community environments through multiple intervention project such as: (a) increased physical activity programming and participation, (b) high quality Physical Education programming with technology; the use of cost-effective digital technology in physical education (e.g., mobile applications) in efforts to improve instruction, and (c) a focus on healthy living knowledge and behaviors.

Dr. Yu have devoted myself to research in the field of Physical Education during my graduate studies. He has many published articles in top rated refereed journals (Quest, Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, Journal of Physical Activity and Health, Strategies, Journal of Kinesiology and Wellness, Journal of Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, and Journal of Health, Sports, and Kinesiology).

Dr. Yu have participated in multiple international, national and regional professional conferences. He presented his studies related to technology integration in Physical Education, a project investigating physical activity participation in high school facilities during non-school hours, as well as a 20-year follow-up study with former high school students who had a Fitness for Life course in high school (a collaboration with Dr. Chuck Corbin). Dr. Yu served as a reviewer for the Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy, the Journal of Biomedical Human Kinetics, the Journal of Kinesiology and Wellness and the SHAPE America for the National Convention.
