Historic photographs of the Hendre Ddu Tramway are remarkably rare. It seems to have escaped the photographers lens until around 1900, when a few grainy images were captured. During and after the First World War, the companies working in Dyffryn Angell did start to photograph their work, and some of these have survived. But, to my knowledge, only three photographs exist showing trains on the tramway.
During my research, I have found a number of previously unpublished photographs which show the tramway before closure. I also have access to a number of images of the tramway, forestry operations and quarries after the Second World War, that round out the account. A few of these are shown below
