The talks of this workshop will take place at the lecture hall U5, Otakaari 1, the Otaniemi Campus of Aalto University.
There is an efficient public transportation network in Helsinki and Espoo which goes by the initials HSL/HRT. The English version of the website gives all the information in terms of fares, routes, route planning, and timetables. Aalto University can be reached by Metro, Bus and Tram.
The route planner of HSL/HRT works pretty well. By visiting the HSL route planner you can choose your origin and destination and the desired departure or arrival time. The planner will suggest possible routes and give detailed walking directions whenever relevant. The planner is quite sensitive to spelling, so that "Töölö towers" works while "Toolo towers" doesn't. The directions feature of Google Maps also works pretty well in Helsinki and can suggest car, walking, and public transportation routes.
Aalto University Espoo campus lies within HSL/HRT zone B. Helsinki city center lies in zone A. The airport Helsinki-Vantaa is in zone C, so an ABC ticket would be needed to go to the city center. For the metro ride city center – Aalto campus, an AB ticket is sufficient.
Participants are expected to book their own accommodation. Below is a non-exhaustive list of hotels located on the Otaniemi campus, in increased order of price:
