After receiving assistance from Helpende Handen Wereldwijd (HHWW), Nazareth's condition has improved significantly. The necessary procedure to remove her tracheotomy cannula was successful, marking a pivotal step in her facial reconstruction journey. The next phase of reconstruction has been planned. With increased confidence, she is now able to continue her education free of charge at a specialized school for children with intellectual disabilities. This support has not only enhanced Nazareth's quality of life but has also provided renewed hope for her future.
Name: Nazareth
Age: 11 years old
Residence: A modest boarding house in Cibubur, East Jakarta
Background:
Three years ago, Nazareth was treated at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) after being infected by a flesh-eating virus that severely damaged her skin tissue. At that time, her medical expenses were not covered by BPJS (Indonesia's healthcare system), requiring financial assistance.
Current Condition:
Health: Her condition has improved by approximately 80%, but she still requires ongoing treatment to heal her wounds and reconstruct her face, which was damaged on the left side. Her immune system is weak (only 50% functional), and her wounds are being treated with pure honey and a special solution.
Treatment: She remains a regular patient at RSCM, undergoing routine wound care, using a nebulizer, and is in need of facial reconstruction surgery in the future.
Education: Currently, Nazareth is unable to attend school due to her health condition and financial constraints.
Family Situation:
Nazareth lives with her mother, Mrs. Anisa, who works as a daily laborer cleaning apartments to support their living expenses and fund her daughter's treatment.
Urgent Needs:
The cost of facial reconstruction surgery, estimated at IDR 70-75 million, which exceeds BPJS coverage.
Educational support so that Nazareth can return to school once she recovers.
Hope:
With the help of donors, Nazareth can complete her treatment, undergo facial reconstruction surgery, and return to school for a brighter future.
Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in Nazareth's life and her family's well-being. Together, let us give Nazareth a new hope for a better future.
Our Mission
• Helping Nazareth to regain a normal life.
• Supporting healthcare services for her facial reconstruction and future.
We believe that collaboration can bring real change. With the support of sponsors and volunteers, we strive to bring new hope to Nazareth through a series of facial reconstruction surgeries and guidance until she reaches adulthood.
What Have We Achieved?
We successfully formed a team of specialist doctors from RSCM, led by a senior plastic surgeon, to handle Nazareth's facial injuries. Based on in-depth discussions, we are optimistic that these medical steps will greatly help, although they will require time, multiple surgeries, and Nazareth’s development until she reaches adulthood (18-23 years).
How Can You Help?
• Volunteers: Assist in education programs, healthcare, and guiding Nazareth towards her future.
• Donors: Your financial support is crucial to fund surgeries, medical care, and other necessities.
On behalf of Helpende Handen Wereldwijd, we are fighting to give Nazareth a young girl full of hope despite her unfortunate circumstances a brighter future.
