Helltrench was created under the name HellCirkus by Nikolai Trinchero on March 3rd 2023. Their first official lineup was Nikolai on guitars/vocals and Laurie Trinchero on drums. The band then changed their name to Forest of Hell due to Rio's violence and nature however due to it's length the band decided to change it and thus chose Helltrench.
Isolation was the band's first song, released on March 30th 2023 the track showed how they were experimenting with implementing different types of metal subgenres into their music. This early song was distributed digitally as an MP3 file.
After Isolation the band took some time off, during this time many songs were written that would later be featured on Freedom?(formerly known as Freedom is Slavery) and Helltrench, and on June 2023 they officially started working on the album. Laurie took on backing vocals duties and rehearsals for Freedom? soon commenced on May 4th 2024. On September 28th 2024 Helltrench played their first concert with a guest playing bass. In late 2024 the band decided that it would be a good idea to record an EP to have material to send in order to be able to play more concerts. Recording for Helltrench's EP took place over the span of three days in November, December and January respectively. The EP was released on January 28th 2025. Throughout 2025 the band played many shows in places like Garage Grindhouse and Heavy Beer Bar. Recording for their debut album began in August of the same year, and was concluded in November. Their debut album was finally released on March 31st 2026, while it was supposed to be released earlier, due to the distributor not holding up their part of their contract, the album was only released at the previously mentioned date.
