Comments and User Content

When visitors leave comments and post user content on the Site, we collect the data shown in the comments form and the content posted, and the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. We may also collect other data specified on this page, in particular the details found in the “Analytics” section of this page. An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Media

If you upload any media to the Service (e.g., images), you should not upload media with exchangeable image file format (EXIF) data, or any other embedded data. Who we share your data with

We use Mailchimp for communicating with our subscribers and customers. Email subscriptions are sent to Mailchimp where we use the submitted details to keep in contact with our users, customers, and visitors. Emails sent through Mailchimp can be unsubscribed from at the bottom of the received email. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. We use email providers that track email delivery, open rates and link click rates for emails sent from our Service. Email addresses are checked for validity to reduce fraud. Analytics data is also shared with Google and Microsoft. Please see the “Analytics” section above for more information. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service, such as Akismet and/or reCaptcha, for example. We use Adsense to publish media advertisements on our Site and App. Adsense may collect certain types of information, such as what advertisements were displayed and how users interacted with any displayed advertising. How long we retain your data

When you complete a contact form through the Site, we will maintain your information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information. If you leave a comment or upload any user content to our Site, the comment and user content information and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Analytics data is retained indefinitely unless the analytics service provider changes how they handle data retention. For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change certain profile fields, including their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this Site, have left comments, or have uploaded any user content, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How we protect your data

This website uses an encrypted connection making it difficult to steal information. Data encryption is used where possible, such as with passwords. This website and its data are scanned regularly for signs of malicious activity to improve Site security. Firewall technologies are also utilised. All software, including web software, is kept up to date as soon as possible once it is released for use in a production environment.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

Occasionally, we may use your previous activity on the website to send emails and notifications to you if you have a registered account or have opted to receive such information. These emails and notifications include, but are not limited to, requests for additional information to process your submission.

Emails and Notifications

Critical emails and notifications, such as maintenance and insecure password emails sent out to users cannot be unsubscribed from as this concerns user account and website security. Automated activity-based emails and notifications may also be sent periodically. These emails and notifications are considered to be service-related and cannot be opted-out from. App notifications are sent via Firebase. If you delete your account, there may be a delay before app notifications cease.
