Original 2012 Elmo cake that was posted to the Cake Wrecks.com blog
The Elmo at the center of the meme's image originated from a 3D edible Elmo decoration from 2012 that is popping out of a 1-year-old’s birthday cake.
The cake was posted to CakeWrecks.com on November 1st, 2012 by a user whose identity is not confirmed. It was soon after reposted to Tumblr, then reposted a second time with just the torso of Elmo edited onto a background of flames.
Elmo is positioned in the style of a jack-in-the-box jumping out of the cake, or perhaps a person jumping up with their arms wide and welcoming yelling happy birthday or maybe surprise at a surprise party.
