About Mr. Murray
Joshua Murray grew up in Spokane, WA and attended Shadle Park High School where he was actively involved in the music program as a saxophonist and string bassist. He attended Eastern Washington University from 2017 - 2022 where he graduated with a Bachelor of Education in Music. While at EWU, he played in groups such as the Wind Ensemble, Concert Jazz Orchestra, Marching Band, Code Red Pep Band, and many other small group projects. He also actively performs with groups such as the Inland Northwest Orchestra, Willow Creek Symphony, the Eastern Washington Wind Symphony, the 133rd Division Army National Guard Band, and the Happy Canyon Pit Band.
Mr. Murray believes the point of a music class is not to go on and be professional musicians, but to be fun and develop critical life skills along the way such as leadership, integrity, and personal responsibility. His hope is that students foster a lifelong appreciation for music and become lifelong supporters of their local music programs both at the grade school and professional level.
Mr. Murray lives with his wife in the Athena area with their 4 cats and 2 dogs. Outside of music, Mr. Murray likes to travel, fish, play video games and cook.
