My journey with the Goddess Hekate has been a remarkable experience. Perplexing, sudden and unannounced – she reached out to me through dreams, symbols and random occurrences in such a way that I could not explain it away. Or refuse Her call. It felt like a combination of intuition, insight and dreamscape emerging into one’s life. She is Presence – comforting, challenging, loving – all at once. And She assured me she is here to help. To guide. To illuminate. To heal. And this is what she has done with me – and what I’d like to share with you.
She showed up at a time in my life when I was at a crossroads – which is fitting because She is what is considered a liminal goddess – she watches over births and deaths and guides beings through difficult circumstances, just as in her myth she guided Persephone into the underworld and back. Her torches illuminate what is hidden and guides those who are in need, which I indeed was.
My personal approach has been one focused on healing myself. Having grown up in an abusive environment, my path has been to locate and release the traumas and tensions that have accumulated over the years. I’ve learned to unbind old habitual patterns and release them with the help of inner energy work, physical somatic practices as well as journaling, meditation, ritual practices and study of numerous mystical paths including Buddhism, Mystic Christianity, the Western Esoteric Tradition and non-dual teachings.
By incorporating all the senses in ritual, I have found that the exploration of our psyches allows us to unwind old habitual ways of seeing and using the senses in order to see the freshness of direct experience.
I’ve worked with energy and healing for over 25 years – I was taught many ways to work with my own energy and body by the Buddhists – and the Hekate presence just deepened this direction. Basically I work in a ritual modality using energy manipulation, physical touch, head, neck, feet, limb manipulation, muscle work, and song and mantras to bring the body to a place of natural healing. I’m using my own created crafted oils, incense, herbs, bells and crystals to channel this energy into the earth realm and around the client’s body.
My current clients include a Pilates instructor, a yoga instructor, long COVID patients, cancer patients and individuals suffering from long-held trauma, anxiety and depression. Each have expressed great relief and peace from the sessions.
You don’t have to “believe” in Hekate to benefit from this – I am using the energy of the goddess to clear up energy blocks and provide this relief – but it is a neutral, natural approach that is quite unlike other healing methods.
