Heidi Karjalainen

I am a Senior Research Economist at the Institute for Fiscal Studies working in the Retirement, Savings, and Ageing sector. 

My current work includes research on pensions policy, saving for retirement, and health and cognition among older people. 

I am also one of the authors of the IFS Pensions Review, a multi-year project on the UK pension system and of the future of financial security in retirement. 

IFS researchers are part of an interdisciplinary team running the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing (ELSA), a representative panel survey of the 50+ population in England. I am a member of the ELSA Management team.
